Microsoft August Patch Tuesday Fixes Two Zero-Days

Earlier this month, Microsoft rolled out the August Patch Tuesday security updates. This latest patch includes fixes for 120 vulnerabilities across 13 different products. 17 of the 120 vulnerabilities are rated critical. There are also two zero-days that hackers were able to exploit before these patches. Microsoft reported that the first zero day (CVE-2020-1464) can be abused by hackers to "bypass security features and load improperly signed files." The second zero-day (CVE-2020-1380) is a remote code execution bug in the IE scripting engine and was being abused before this patch. Machine Learning Generates Photo-Realistic Images of Roman Emperors

Using the neural-net tool Artbreeder, Photoshop and historical references, artist Daniel Voshart started a quarantine project creating photo-real depictions of Roman Emperors. "For this project, I have transformed, or restored (cracks, noses, ears etc.) almost a thousand images of busts to make the 54 emperors of The Principate (27 BC to 285 AD)". Travel back in time to Ancient Rome and try creating your own totally unique images with one of the many Ai art platforms available!

What Is A Security Token Offering (STO)?

STO stands for security token offering. It is a process similar to an ICO where an investor exchanges money for coins or tokens representing their investment. However, unlike ICOs, STO’s take it a step further and distribute tokens that fall under the status of securities. They are linked to an underlying investment asset in a way like stocks, bonds, real estate investment trusts (REIT) or other funds.

Cisco has just released multiple high severity security vulnerabilities. Read the security advisories and make sure to update any small business switches, DNA Center software, routers with StarOS software, and AnyConnect Secure Mobility VPN client for Windows. "An attacker could exploit this [AnyConnect] vulnerability by sending a crafted IPC message to the AnyConnect process," Cisco explains in the advisory.
